The Future Awards Africa (TFAA), a member of the RED Group, has begun rolling out TFAA Independent (TFAAi), a new franchise model designed to take Africa’s leading youth awards closer to communities across the continent.
The initiative was conceived to give local changemakers the opportunity to organise and own The Future Awards Africa experience within their states, local governments and countries. Under the model, participating operators are licensed to independently plan and execute TFAAi within their communities, creating a more decentralised platform for recognising young Africans making meaningful contributions across different sectors.
The concept was originally developed nearly a decade ago by HBC Holdings Chairman; Chude Jideonwo, who co-founded The Future Awards Africa. While the demands of running the wider organisation meant the model was not immediately operationalised, the vision was revisited last year during a RED Group board meeting with Group CEO Ayodeji Razaq.
The roadmap and intended outcomes were subsequently shared with the RED leadership team, which took on the opportunity to develop the concept into an operational franchise model.
The first pilot, TFAAi Port Harcourt, took place in August in Rivers State, marking the beginning of the rollout. The model is now expanding to additional locations, with TFAAi Abia, TFAAi Oyo and TFAAi Kano scheduled as part of the initial pilot phase.
With four states being activated within the pilot period, TFAAi represents a significant step in expanding the reach and accessibility of The Future Awards Africa.
The initiative reflects the broader ambition of RED, a group within HBC Holdings, to build and scale platforms that create meaningful opportunities for African talent and communities.
What began as an idea to take The Future Awards Africa to the grassroots is now being developed into a scalable model, with TFAAi set to bring the platform to more communities across Africa.
